Frome Medical Practice : New updated advice if you are over 75 and haven't heard from the medical team

Frome Medical Practice is continuing the roll out of the COVID-19 vaccine programme for their patients.

Karen Creffield, Practice Manager, said: "We are working our way through the priority list for vaccinations, which has been set for us by the government. Most of our patients over the age of 75 have now been invited for their vaccine.

However, if we have not been able to get hold of you by phone please now call us to arrange your appointment. Note that this only applies to those over 75 – we still ask that anyone else waits for us to call them. We can also confirm we have vaccinated all care home residents in Frome."

"We are now in the process of contacting our patients in the 70-75 age group as well as those who are clinically extremely vulnerable (as defined by the government) and we have started visiting our housebound patients to give them the vaccine too. We hope to complete contacting these two groups within the next two weeks."

The practice is aware that some patients have received scam emails and texts regarding the COVID-19 vaccine and emphasised that you do not need to apply for the vaccine (so do not click any links you receive in emails or texts about it), you do not pay to receive the vaccine and you will never need to share your bank details to confirm your identity to receive the vaccine. Instead, the practice are reminding patients that they will call you to book your appointment but be aware that the call will come from a withheld number.

Finally, the practice wanted to take this opportunity to thank their patients for all their support as the vaccine programme rolls out.

Karen said: "We've been quite overwhelmed by the messages of thanks we've received at the vaccine clinics and also on our social media pages. We know that people are anxious to get the vaccine as soon as possible and we understand that for some it's been frustrating as they wait for their phone call. But we really appreciate everyone's patience at this time and want to reiterate that we will be in touch with you as soon as we have vaccine available for your priority group."

Regular updates about the vaccine are posted on the practice website and also on their social media pages. Visit fromemedicalpractice.co.uk for further information
