Three members of the team at Frome Medical Practice have been shortlisted for awards in the South West Practice Nursing Celebration Awards, which take place on 11th February.

The members of the team who have been shortlisted are:

Julia Di Castiglione has been shortlisted in the 'Patient Centred Innovation' category, particularly for the specialised work she undertakes with care homes in Frome.

Lisa Voyle is shortlisted for the 'Unsung Hero' award for her work supporting the COVID-19 vaccine delivery and the supply of Personal Protective Equipment to the practice, over the last few months.

Jo Trickett has been shortlisted for the 'Nurse Leadership' Award. Jo has a leading role within the Care Coordination Hub at the Practice, which supports patients with complex needs, or those who may recently have been discharged from hospital, or those undergoing radiotherapy or chemotherapy treatment.

Jo is also responsible for sharing best practice across the three Primary Care Networks (which effectively means all GP practices) based in Mendip.

Karen Creffield, Practice Manager, said: "We are delighted that three of the team have made the shortlist for the awards this year. This is an exceptionally busy time for everyone working in primary care and everyone in the team has been pivotal both behind the scenes and in the frontline as we roll out the COVID-19 vaccination programme, on top of our usual workload. Whilst we work closely as a team, it's a real privilege to see individuals getting this kind of recognition."

The awards are organised by the South West Regional NHS England and NHS Improvement teams and take place online this year. They are an opportunity to showcase exciting new projects, as well as an opportunity to recognise nursing excellence.
