The Frome RFC 2nd XV welcomed Swindon RFC 2nd XV to the lane on Saturday following a series of positive performances.

Straight from the kick off Swindon showed that they were a disciplined unit setting out their defensive line very well.

Frome attacked strongly with their set piece and entered Swindon's 22, with a quick play of the ball, Flanker Damon Ashmore noticed a gap at the break down to slice through the defence and under the posts for the first score on 3 mins. Full Back Ben Eley added the extras.

Frome then found themselves up against a very stubborn and organised defence and found it hard to get over the gain line, but some quick thinking from Second Row Connor McPherson, saw a quick penalty tap in Frome's 22, lead to the ball getting out wide and a kick forward into deep into Swindons half saw a try go missing following a knock on.

Swindon's defence continued to frustrate Frome who looked to the kick for points on 30 mins, only for the kick to go just wide of the posts.

On 32 mins the Frome Forwards turned it up a gear and moved the ball quickly through the phases, eventually overloading the defence and Second Row Stevan Randall burst through a gap to touch down. Eley kicked the extras.

Frome now found their tempo and started to move with pace and purpose at the the opposition, particularly Winger Harry Burge, who lead another break out into the Swindon 22 before the visitor Full Back pulled off a try saving tackle.

Then on 39 mins Frome piled on the pressure inside the Swindon 22 forcing them to kick, Burge took the high ball and with some magic footwork to dance round three would be tacklers, he scored in the corner. Eley then added with a great kick from the touch line.

With the end of the half in sight Frome hadn't finished and with a sweeping move through the Backline Winger Kyle Williamson hit the line at pace, with a lot to do still, he showed great agility to take it inside his marker and then strength to take it over the line.

Half Time: Frome RFC II 26 - 0 Swindon RFC II

Frome started the second half well and with a good passage of play entered the Swindon 22 within a few phases, and with only five mins gone in the half Second Row Randall, took advantage of a solid line out to break free of the defence and go over the line to touch down for his second try of the match. Eley added the extras.

This also saw the changes made Dean Marshall came on for Ashmore and Loukas Ives coming on for Ali Fisher.

Frome then struggled with some indiscipline which saw them loose ground. But the hits kept coming with Centres Matt Warnock and John Spencer making some fantastic tackles in midfield.

Then on 57 mins the ball came out to Winger Williamson, who again stepped inside his marker and accelerated clear of the defence to score for his second. Eley added the extras.

On 67 mins the Swindon attack had their best moments of the game and were awarded a scrum in Frome's 22, five metres out from the line. From the resulting scrum Frome seemed to switch off and the Swindon attack went blind and managed to crash over the line despite the best efforts from the defence.

With 3mins remaining Frome were desperate to keep out the Swindon attack no more so than Centre Warnock, again making a big hit in midfield which lead to Frome turning defence into attack, only to knock on just short of the line.

Frome put pressure onto the resulting scrum and the ball spilt out the back and over the line which Captain Dave Abrahams dived on to score.
