The away match was dogged by injury

The Frome RFC 2nd XV travelled to top of the table rivals Royal Wotton Bassett 2nds XV, knowing this was going to be a very strong test for them.

The first half couldn't have started any worse for the visitors, on 4mins the home side worked the ball wide and went around the Frome defence to score in their opening attack.

Frome hit back straight away though, and a good kick off by Fly Half Dave Abrahams lead to a scrum, followed by a penalty and a yellow card for Royal Wootton Bassett.

Flanker Damon Ashmore had to come off and was replaced by Alex Twigger.

From the line out Frome caught and drove well with Second Row Rob James crashing over for the try. The conversion was missed.

On nine mins Frome were dealt a blow, with Inside Centre Cory Plumridge having to come off with an ankle injury.

The home side were awarded a penalty in a good position, opting for a kick at the sticks, they spotted with ease for the three points.

On 17 mins Ashmore came back on replacing Twigger and then Frome were dealt another blow when he was promptly awarded a yellow card for a late tackle.

Royal Wootton Bassett attacked well again and with a neat kick over the top, put pressure on the Frome defence which saw the attackers react quicker and score the try, the conversion being added.

Again Frome hit back straight away. A great break in midfield by Centre Leone Naucukidi, who took it into the heart of the defence and just before the line he managed to off load to No.8 Apisalome Tulwakaya who touched down to score. The conversion going just wide.

Then on 39 mins Centre Naucukidi was on the attack again, carving his way through the midfield running from just outside the 22 and racing into the oppositions 22 before being held by the last man, he managed to get his hands free and off load to the ever green Scrum Half Garrie Webster who touched down under the posts. The kick added by Naucukidi, to retake the lead.

Then on 40 mins Naucukidi raced the length of the field off the final tackle attempt and touching down under the posts for a really good solo effort. Adding a conversion for his efforts.

The half ended on a negative for Frome when No. 8 Tulwakaya adjudged not too have retreated 10 from a penalty in Frome's 22 and was awarded a yellow card.

The second half started with Frome attacking up the slight slope, and it couldn't have started any worse with the home side repeating their first half effort and attacking wide, going round the Frome defence to score.

And it got worse for the visitors as Royal Wootton Bassett came straight down the pitch and did the same thing again going wide and going round the defence to score again much to the delight of the home crowd to retake the lead.

Then on 54mins both sides had players sent off within seconds of each other both for tip tackles. Frome's red card was awarded to Frome's Ashmore, and from this penalty the visitors took the 3 points.

Frome were having to make lots of changes due to injuries, and so, a special mention must go to Frome's Medical Team, James Bennett.

The visitors would soon take advantage of the depleted side, and crashed straight through the heart of Frome's defence and going over under the posts. With the kick added.

This really hurt the away side and they struggled to find any rhythm from there on in and RWB added a further two penalty kicks to end the game 41-24.

Player of the Match went to Leone Naucukidi for his first half performance setting up two tries and scoring one himself, with special mentions to Scrum Half, Garrie Webster for leaving everything on the pitch and second Row Rob James for leading by example from start to finish.

The Frome RFC 2nd XV remain top of Dorset & Wilts 1 North, with two fixtures remaining in the season, they have two tough fixtures, firstly welcoming Sutton Benger RFC to The Lane this Saturday.
