Frome school mourns death of much loved teacher

Christchurch school in Frome has confirmed the loss of a much loved teacher in a traffic accident earlier this week in Bath.

On the school web site they wrote : " It is with great sadness that we confirm that Mrs Sarah-Jane L'Esteve, our Diamond Class (Reception/Year 1) teacher, passed away at 4.30pm as she made her way home after school."

The much loved and respected teacher, who began at the school 12 years ago, was 48 years old and leaves a son, Oscar, aged 13.

Since the tragic news broke, dozens of floral tributes and messages of

condolence have flowed into the school .

The head of Christ Church added: "Our hearts go out to Mrs L'Esteve's

family at this time. We feel that Christ Church is part of her family and Mrs L'Esteve's family are part of Christ Church. The world has lost a much-loved daughter and mother.

"Christ Church will grieve the loss of a passionate teacher; a gifted early years practitioner; an enthusiastic Science Subject Leader; a colleague and a friend."

Police have put out an appeal for witnesses to the crash.

They appealed for for witnesses following what was described as " A fatal single vehicle collision on Gay Street, Bath which happened at about 4.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 16 December).

"A woman in her 40s was taken to hospital but sadly died after her car suddenly left the road and collided with a wall.

Her family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident. If you can help, please call 101 and give the call handler the reference 5220282064. "
