The new owners of The Spar at Rodden Road, which had a post office counter, say they are still waiting to hear if they will get post services returned.

Today (February 2) Nub News asked them about reports it was coming soon and they said they had been told nothing. It has now been months, seven in fact, since they applied to have post office counter services.

If they get the green light, they say they have a member of staff, ready and waiting to start training to bring back the service as soon as they can.

Frome has had just one post office, that on The Portway, since the tail end of last year.

The main post office in The Westway in Frome closed in September 2022. even after the Co-op which took over most of the store, had already closed.

According to Citizens Advice across the UK 1,291 Post Offices are currently deemed 'temporarily closed', but almost six in ten of these have been shut for more than two years.
