The family whose camper van was destroyed in an arson attack in Frome have appealed for anyone who might have seen anything, and spoken of their devastation.

The owner of the van, who has been working as a health care professional throughout the pandemic on the high dependency coronavirus ward, told Nub News that it was the bitterest of blows.

The van was set alight on Selwood Road at around 10:50 pm last night (August 23) but the homeowners believe the individual involved may have tried to light a fire under one of the front tyres a second time.

Their van is now a write off, and in an additional blow, they were planning today to go off on a well-earned holiday today (August 24).

Now with the investigation underway and no transport, there will be no break for this Frome family.

She told Nub News: " If anyone did see anything, or they know anything please can they get in touch with the police, it can be done anonymously."

She told Nub News that the family were asleep when the arsonist attacked.

" At about ten to eleven my partner came running in saying that the van was on fire. Two engines were already here putting out the fire, as you see it is completely destroyed.

" We think whoever did this put fire lighters under the front tyre. It happened the first time and a young lad put out the fire, but then they came back.

" We are absolutely destroyed, we were meant to be going on holiday in our van today and then to Scotland next week. That is all our summer plans gone now...

" If anyone has seen anything if they can contact us or the police."
