Frome dog lovers stepped up with big hearts and warm homes, to foster a number of puppies following an appeal on Nub News.
We have been contacted by the charity involved thanking Frome residents for being so generous. They stepped in to give temporary homes in the town, to dogs which had been abandoned across in Wales.
Thanks to our story, many of them are now in new homes having spent some time in Frome in temporary 'foster care'.
They include the three puppies pictured, including tiny Bramley who was adopted last weekend. You can find out more about him by clicking HERE: he must have been very hard to let go, what a charmer
One of those who fostered the dogs in Frome told us that two of the adult ex-breeding girls are still very shutdown but coming out of their shells.
Over in Wales the charity Friends of Animals Wales reported being overwhelmed by the number of dogs abandoned and asked for help in Frome. The sudden influx of unwanted puppies came as Lucy's Law came into effect, that law banned third party puppy sales – such as from online retailers or pet shops.
All dogs must now be bought from the breeder, or from a reputable rescue organisation; which sadly led to many puppies simply being dumped.
You can read how we put out an appeal for help here:
as the changes impacted the regrettably large puppy-farm industry in Wales The RSPCA has looked into almost 28,168 complaints about the illegal puppy trade in the last 10 years. The law is named after Lucy, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who was rescued from a puppy farm where she was subjected to terrible conditions. Lucy's Law effectively removes the third-party dealer chain, resulting in all dog and cat breeders becoming accountable for the first time, according to the government.
