Our first year of Frome Town Band Brass schools programme which has been very successful, we have gone into three schools: Berkeley, Vallis and Critchill. Members of our committee applied for several grants to fund this venture, so we have been able to introduce brass music to over 100 pupils and we have gained some new beginners to our band for doing this.

However we still want to try and introduce brass music to the wider community so we decided to launch a two day summer school in August. It is for any age, any ability, you have the opportunity to try any brass instrument from cornet to trombone to bass.

Adults can participate with children, we have found that over lockdown that playing an instrument has really helped with well being.

We continued playing over Zoom, in fact we have just presented three new cornets to some of our intermediate players for continuing to show excellent progress. If anyone in interested in learning to play a brass instrument, the summer school is on 11th-12th, 10-4pm, £30 for two days. Sign up on the website www.frometownband.com or for more information please email [email protected].

Another exciting venture we are planning to play alongside the film The Snowman, we are looking for any experienced brass player join in, we have our first rehearsal on 13th-14th August, 10-4pm. Please get in touch on the email above if this is something you would like to be a part of, you do not have to be a member of Frome Town Band to be part of this.
