Purple Elephant Productions, the not for profits organisers of Frome Toy Library, Frome Children's Festival/Gen-Z, the Sports Festival and Family Holiday Fun activities during school holidays, will be doing all they can to support those local families who are most in need.

Known for their activities throughout the year in the town, as well as their toy-lending service, Purple Elephant will be working together with Fair Frome and local schools to get resources to families such as activity packs, toys and books.

A spokesperson for the organisation said: "We understand that keeping children occupied will be a challenge so, naturally, these play resources will be given to families for free and most will be for them to keep – some will be on loan.

"Many families are going to be facing a long period of time in isolation or unexpectedly at home, and will struggle to find positive things to do; this will be stressful for both children and adults so our aim will be to give them creative, healthy, fun activities to help keep vulnerable families occupied and avoid spiraling into crisis.

"We will of course follow government guidance on cleaning and social distancing to ensure that our resources are safe to use."

The Frome Toy Library, where the toys will be sourced from, have a limited small amount of funding from previous donations to enable this support so they will need more if this work is to continue for more than a short time.

If you are in a position to help with even a small donated financial gift then the organisers are requesting donations to the emergency support fund.

One of the directors explains, "Tensions will be running high in some families so please help us reach out to keep the world of play open for our most vulnerable children."
