Frome's own fundraising hero was in Paris celebrating VE Day 75 years ago today.
The 98 year old was in the French capital celebrating the end of the terrible conflict and says he can remember Charles de Gaulle parading down the Champs Elysee.
Today Owen Hillier may be older but he is still fighting- walking one hundred metres a day, every day, to raise money for the local hospice.
On May 1 we reported on how amazing his fundraising was going, with him already smashing all his targets.
To date (May 8) he has raised over £15,000 directly for Dorothy House. You can read the original update here:
Today the MBE holder, who is usually living in Nunney, stood for two minutes silence to honour all his colleagues who did not return after the war.
A former charity treasurer of lots of local groups, including the Friends of Frome hospital, Owen says he will keep going as long as he can.
His fundraising is still open and you can still donate and can carry on donating . You can donate via this link here:
