Frome's Climate Change Plan Comes Together

By Guest

5th Dec 2019 | Local News

The community came together to discuss a range of ways that Frome can meet its climate change targets during Frome Town Council's recent Climate Change Panels. Ideas ranged from community owned solar and wind to walking buses to 'fit bits for carbon' to safer cycle routes, a children's shoe library to local food growing and shared delivery points.

Councillor Lizzie Boyle said:" It was great to hear so many good ideas and such enthusiasm for getting these done. The benefits of taking action are huge – cleaner air, healthier lifestyles, easier to heat homes and local jobs."

Anna Francis, Frome Town Council's Resilience Officer will be collating the ideas from the panels and putting them into an action plan over the next few weeks. The first draft of the plan will be discussed at a Council meeting on January 22.

Tickets for environmentalist Rob Hopkins who is speaking on December 5 at the Cheese &Grain are available online at: www.frometowncouncil.gov.uk/climate-emergency or on the night at £5 waged, £1 unwaged.
