The new Greggs store in Frome, up on Wessex Fields is due to be open at the end of August.

Today (August 8) they were putting the finishing touches to the new branch, although they are still advertising for supervisory staff.

The hugely popular company is opening a second branch in Frome, but it will be the third locally, with one also out on the commercial estate within the garage out close to what locals still refer to as the Frome Flyer.

Today we were told that it would be opening this week, but we are happy to set the record straight that is NOT the case, it will be opening sometime around August 22- 25.

But given the popularity of our earlier post, there seems to be a huge appetite for those doors to open. The latest Greggs is housed in what was previously a mobile showroom.

We have tried unsuccessfully on many occasions to find an EXACT date for the opening. Two months ago we were told the less than helpful answer ;

"Greggs is due to open a new shop in Frome later this year. While we are unable to share any details at the moment, we will be sure to share further information in the coming months."

Six days ago Greggs reported booming sales across all its branches. Sales at Greggs rose by 27.1% in the first half of 2022, but profits are flat, its interim results revealed. Total sales climbed to £694.5m for the 26 weeks ending 2 July 2022 – an improvement of £148.3m on the same period in 2021 – while profits sat at £55.8m versus £55.5m the prior year. It has over 2,000 branches across the UK.
