A new petition is up and running to stop what is being called the 'slashing' of the key bus service from Frome to Bath.

The D2 will lose evening services and will NOT run on Sundays or public holidays from October.

That is when special Covid funding ends and has led to a number of big campaigns to save local buses including a key route from Bath to Wells.

You can read about that campaign HERE and how it has been successful, but in turn probably means other routes being culled.

Now the candidate hoping to be Frome's next MP, Liberal Democrat Sarah Dyke has started a petition to get the company to reconsider the D2 changes.

You can see that HERE

One comment on the post argues that cutting bus services, in particular to rural parts of Somerset is nothing less than madness:

"People are being encouraged to drive less and then the bus service is being reduced?? Senseless!! Or is this another way of keeping us at home and isolated?"

Frome and Somerton Liberal Democrats posted: "It has been announced that First Group plan to slash the D2 bus route from Frome to Bath in October. The plans will lead to less frequent buses, the removal of evening services, and no buses on Sundays or public holidays.

The Lib Dem team know how essential buses are to people in our communities. We have launched a petition to stop these ill thought out bus cuts. "
