The streets of Frome are coming together to plan parties this year with the support of Frome Town Council and residents who have already closed their streets for the day. Karen Stewart and Adam Baylis, members of the Trinity Community Group shared their experiences of closing their streets at a network session for local people interested in finding out more and sharing ideas about how to meet their neighbours.

Frome Town Council, working with a number of organisations and neighbourhood groups across the town, are supporting residents coming together in a bid to reduce social isolation, create very local networks of residents ready and able to support each other and develop projects in streets such as playing out, gardening and growing projects and even bike sheds which help us move to a resilient future.

The Mayor of Frome Mark Dorrington said: "The street parties I have attended during my time as Mayor have been a wonderful opportunity to meet local people and hear about how they are working together with a village-like spirit to support each other. We have supported some groups to put insurance in place through the Mayor's fund and don't forget the Town Council also have a shed full of resources to borrow to help residents run their event". Gazebos, tables, chairs and much more can be borrowed from Frome Town Council and the Share Shop also have a number of useful items for your neighbourhood event including bunting, decorations, lights and more.
