Steve Bane Fabrics, which Nub News profiled earlier this year has confirmed that it is closing.

The fabric shop on Christchurch Street West has been part of Frome for nearly fifty years.

On a post made on their social page the family company said: "We are heartbroken to announce this to all of our long term customers. Our closing date is still to be confirmed, so we will make sure to let you know in due course.

We are continuing to push our online website and will be offering a special service for anyone in the Frome area following our closure.

Thank you again for your continued support."

Existing staff were told they were being made redundant earlier this month but the shop is still open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

They had planned to move to premises up the road but then the coronavirus pandemic took hold and all businesses were locked down.

We profiled the shop on Frome Nub News in early March.
