Frome's Community Fridge is now re-open and today (August 19) it seemed the appeal to restart donations has been heard with it well stocked with vegetables and fruit.

The fridge is open to all - regardless of income - as an inventive and award-winning way to combat food waste.

The larder side of the fridge re-opened last week, but the team of volunteers who maintain the site explained that they were taking things slowly.

The fridge will be open whenever there is a volunteer available, and most afternoons for two hours from 2pm until 4pm.

Organiser Terri Pitts explained to Nub News: "We are taking things slowly so that if there was to be a second wave of the coronavirus that we can easily maintain the hours we are doing and remain open. We are currently relying on our marvellous food stores to support us. So there has been a delay in some of them coming forward to help. "
