Petrol prices in Frome continue to rise, but motorists are also saying the prices are simply confusing.
On Friday (March 11) they could be 197p a litre in Texaco in Frome while just 200 metres down the road at Asda, 162p.
"How is this possible???????" asked one exasperated motorist.
The same question being asked in Midsomer Norton, the nearest Morrison's was £1.59.9p litre, while in the town it was £177.9p per litre.
On Thursday residents in Cheddar said there, with prices always high due to the number of tourists, both garages were reported to charging 172 pence a litre unleaded.
Official data published on Tuesday revealed that UK motorists were hit by the steepest weekly rise in fuel prices in more than 18 years after Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
According to the website Go Compare, the cheapest petrol as of yesterday closest to Frome was Applegreen in Trowbridge which was £149.8 pence a litre for unleaded.
On Tuesday (March 8) the UK's Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy said the average price of a litre of unleaded petrol went up by 3.7p between 28 February and 7 March, to just under 153p. Over the same period, diesel prices increased by 5.2p to an average of 158.6p a litre, both the biggest increases on record.
