How long do you need ?

That was the question at the Frome Town Council meeting when the issue of the crossing lights across from Iceland was debated.

A member of the public began by complaining that the lights, which no longer have any noise to warn those who want to cross to move, were once again being repaired.

She expressed surprise that no one at the council seemed to have been informed about what was happening to the lights or why.

Having timed the crossing, she told councillors at the Town Hall on October 4, that walkers were given a mere four seconds to make the crossing in Market Place, the busiest of all the crossings in the town.

However it is reported that, following representations to Somerset Council, the LIGHTS on the crossing now stay on red for longer, so cars are stopped for ten seconds.

"But this is still too fast for some," argued the resident.

Councillors agreed to raise the matter with Somerset, again, but admitted that they are not informed about what is happening on the town roads.
