The Crown in Keyford in Frome is now under new ownership - again.

The pub had a blast out night on New Year's Eve is now in the process of being taken over by another landlord.

Meantime at the new Keyford community share box, next to the pub at 24 Keyford, there is a QR code poster asking for ideas of how the pub should be developed and what locals would like to see there.

The pub, which prides itself, according to its social media pages, on " quenching thirsts, filling bellies, and tucking people in since circa 1680" has been through many hands.

It underwent a major refurbishment in 2021 and was then transformed into a high end steak restaurant. with equally impressive green credentials.

It then went on the market in the summer of 2023. and returned hosting popular music nights and pop up events.

It was sold to a London-based investor who has a number of pubs around the country who is, Nub News understands, planning on leasing out the pub to new operators.

Keyford Area Neighbourhood Group is sounding out local residents to find out what they would like to see at The Crown, which has been a pub since around 1650.

A spokesperson told Nub News that it is clear that Keyford residents really value The Crown and would like to see it become a focal point of the community again.

Simon Keyes told Nub News: "Whilst we appreciate the previous owner invested in restoring building, the idea of a turning a community pub into a Uruguayan grill was misguided and many regulars left.

"The important thing now is to return The Crown to its local roots with good beer, traditional food and more comfortable furnishings and a working wood burning stove."

The building itself is Grade II listed.

Keyford Area Neighbourhood Group intend to share the ideas they get via the code with the new owner.
