In a tongue in cheek reference the local rugby club has appealed for all players to donate to the local Frome foodbank.

Following from the footballer Marcus Rashford's fight to extend free school meal provision through the holidays, then defeated in parliament, the club is appealing for donations to Fair Frome.

In a tweet they wrote: " It is rare that we're impressed by a footballer but Frome RFC will be following Marcus Rashford's inspiring lead this week by partnering with Fair Frome. "

They want all mini, junior and senior members to bring with them a donation to their next training session.

Their rugby chant : " Let's ensure that no child in Frome goes hungry this half term break!"

They have posted ideas for donated items, inspired by Fair Frome which include jams, rice pudding, tinned snacks like Mac cheese and individual noodle snacks.

The Fair Frome organisation previously told Nub News that they currently do not need pasta or baked beans.

The Club has also put on social media an appeal to families who might be at the club to also donate their time and energy to Fair Frome.
