The Frome fish and chip shop which closed after a driver reversed into the plate glass windows at the front of the shop has disappointed customers with news it will NOT be open by Christmas.

The accident happened in June when the front plate glass window was destroyed at the Codswallop shop on Forest Road in Frome.

It took the owners the first six weeks just to get the insurance company to accept liability. Now they have posted that in spite of now having a new frontage, they will not be frying again this side of the festive season.

They wrote: " We are really sorry to say that Codswallop will not be open before Christmas. We are getting there but the insurance is so slow how they process, work, manage. Then we have to deal with building supplies being out of stock, deliveries taking longer. "

The owners added on social media:"On a positive we had the shop front fitted last week, which looks great just want to thank you all for being so patient, and thanks for the lovely messages we have been sent over the past few months. We will definitely see you in 2022!!"
