It was a photo finish when Frome's Children's Festival came to town.

Some lovely costumes and terrific shows from local businesses and organisations.

Full credit to the teams of gymnasts who cartwheeled past Frome Town Hall and the boxers, who must have been fighting fatigue but didn't show it as they played a part in the parade.

This evening ( September 23) the full carnival is in town with carts from other towns too.

The carnival committee has warned that this year may be the last carnival in Frome unless it can find extra funding:

They warned : .... "It may well be the last one unless more funding is acquired.

Many people don't know that the carnival is unique amongst Somerset's carnivals, in that it is the only one which is a registered charity. As well as being a wonderful spectacle for the whole community, the event also raises thousands of pounds each year for the Carnival Charity. This money is then donated back into the local community to individuals, organisations and good causes. This really is Frome's Carnival and Frome's Charity and it relies on the goodwill and support of the people and businesses in the town. "
