In planning news in and around Frome this week:

Homeowners have put in an application to build a two storey side extension, a single storey rear extension and to extend the car parking area and drop the kerbs at 1 Pennys Piece Frome. That is under application Ref. No: 2021/0186/HSE.

There are several applications for tree works:

At 48A Broadway in Frome they want to work on a Sycamore and prune a False Acacia. That is under Ref. No: 2021/0211/TCA

An application is in to fell a Conifer hedge and a Willow at 6 Nunney Road in Frome Ref. No: 2021/0184/TCA .

Householders at 2 Sheppards Barton Frome have applied to fell their Cherry tree : Ref. No: 2021/0201/TCA

In Whatley auctioneers, Greenslade Taylor Hunt have put in an application to re-instate an access track on land at 375091 148371 in Murder Combe in Whatley. You can see all the details under Ref. No: 2021/0117/FUL .

An application has been put in for prior notification to build an agricultural building at Windy Ridge on Tinkers Lane in Newbury. That is

Ref. No: 2021/0217/AGB.

Over in Rode, an application has been made to extend a single garage to form double garage at 1 St Lawrence Lane .Ref. No: 2021/0139/HSE

An application has been put in to vary conditions on the planning application on the Listed Building Consent 2020/2278/LBC for 24 Vicarage Street in Frome. That is under Ref. No: 2021/0165/APP

Homeowners have also applied for joinery conditions to be approved on the listed building consent 2019/2106/LBC on Mendip House on Welshmill Road in Frome. Ref. No: 2021/0200/APP.

Planning decisions made by Mendip this week include :

An application to demolish garages at Boundary Avenue in Frome and build two two-bedroom semi-detached houses, and two three-bedroomed semi-detached houses, has been approved with conditions. The site is at land at 378882/ 148245 and the application was under reference 2020/1788/FUL

An application applying for an amendment to the permission already given to convert existing garage and stables to form a one bedroom annexe at 2 Tuckers Barns, Feltham Hill in Frome, has been withdrawn.

An application for a non-material amendment to permission 2020/1802/HSE for the alteration to window sizes at 39 Croscombe Gardens in Frome, has been approved.

Also approved : Planners have approved the conditions reserved on a bat loft and provision of a bat box. The works involve gaining licences to provide roosts for the protected species. The original planning consent is 2020/1505/HSE for the loft at The Orchard in Mells at postcode BA11 3QR.

An application to build a single storey rear extension at Monks Farm at 47 Lower Keyford in Frome has been approved.

Approved with conditions, an application to build a single storey rear extension at Oakford on Frome Road in Nunney.

Also approved with conditions, a new self-build home on land to the north west of Fern Villa on Mount Pleasant in Frome at postcode, BA11 5BA.

Approved with conditions a two storey side extension and installation of a new conservatory roof at 50 Wynford Road in Frome.

Over in Beckington, plans to install a rainwater harvesting canopy to be used to provide drinking water to cattle and to stop rain water landing on open yards at Ivy House Farm on Berkley Lane, have been approved with conditions.

And there is a split decision on an application to fell a Horse Chestnut covered by tree preservation order at 6 Regency Walk in Weymouth Road in Frome. Planners wrote that : " The works are considered to be excessive and unnecessary to manage a problem related to leaf fall and property maintenance - where a combination of alternatives

may be available." Instead the owner is being allowed to prune the tree, while also making a separate formal application to have the TPO, which applies to many trees in the area, removed.

In Nunney the application to repair and refurbish windows at 8 Horn Street, has been approved with conditions.

An application to build a new one and a half storey high residential dwelling with detached garage and associated highway access at

Overbrook on Windsbatch Lane in Oldford, has been approved with conditions.

An application to modify the Affordable Housing clause of the s106 agreement relating to permission 2015/1392/OTS on the Former Print Works in Caxton Road in Frome, has been withdrawn.

While the application to modify several clauses of the s106 agreement relating to permission 2011/3124 in relation to affordable housing for the development at Church Farm on Frome Road in Rode, has been approved.
