Sarah Dyke the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Somerton and Frome said "I am very sad to hear the news of the Her Majesty The Queen's death, after a lifetime of service to this country. My thoughts are with the Royal Family at this time as they grieve the loss of their Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.

"It is difficult to imagine our country without Elizabeth II as head of state. She has been an incredibly important public figure for so long and one who has been so consistently well thought of around the world. She has been an example of dignity, courage and service; a role model for so many, for many decades.

"We will not see her like again and will miss her wisdom. My sympathy to the great many who loved and respected her.

"I was very proud to attend several Proclamations of the King across the constituency on Sunday 11 September where the local community came together to reflect on the moment when the reign of our longest-serving Monarch Queen Elizabeth II came to an end and our new Sovereign succeeded.

In addition to being the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Somerton & Frome Cllr Dyke is is also the Executive Lead Member for Environment and Climate Change on Somerset County Council.
