Frome firefighters have thanked the local community for helping to boost their spirits during the coronavirus pandemic.

A number of edible goodies have been left outside the Keyford fire station in recent weeks, accompanied by thank you notes.

The most recent was a selection of sweet treats and snacks from Frome St John Ambulance youth units.

The attached note explains that, with meetings no longer taking place currently, the volunteers aged between seven and 18 wanted to 'brighten the day' for those working hard to support the community by donating their biscuits and snacks to the firefighters.

Station Commander Phil Van Gorph told Frome Nub News: "We have been fortunate to receive a number of donations from the public, for which we are very grateful.

"Most have been staples, like tea and coffee, along with sweet goodies - all much appreciated by hungry firefighters.

"We are all very proud do to what is the best job in the world.

"Receiving recognition from the local community during this time makes us feel very valued."
