Just shy of 180 young riders speed around the Frome showground for special Lions event



The Lions club of Frome have sent out huge thanks to everyone involved in a ride out, as the youngest cyclists and scooter enthusiasts took to the track around the showfield.
The event was to encourage youngsters as part of Frome's Green Week and 179 riders saw how many times they could cycle or scoot around the field.
In return for each lap they got a raffle ticket to win a specially made bike from Halfords. The lucky ticket was given out to Matilda who will get her bike shortly.
The Lions Club told Nub News : " We are very grateful to the Cricket Club who gave us free use of their facilities; Frome Town Council for their support and the provision of the 'smoothie' bike, the ingredients for this were provided by ASDA. And last but not least a whole host of volunteers including those Frome College."
The event on Sunday September 19, called Ride Kids Ride, was aimed at encouraging families to exercise and enjoy an outdoor activity and was part of Frome's Green Week.
