Crews will be working this Sunday (14 May) to catch-up on outstanding recycling collections in villages and towns around Frome, Wells, Shepton Mallet and in parts of Bridgwater.
Collections are happening one day later all week due to the coronation bank holiday, including collections that would usually be made today (Friday 12 May) due to happen on Saturday.
Staffing shortages being experienced by Somerset Council's waste contractor, SUEZ, mean some collections have already been delayed for a further day this week.
Although crews are working hard to catch up, several areas will not be reached on Saturday and recycling will have to be returned for on Sunday.
Collections in the following villages and towns around Frome, Wells and Shepton Mallet will definitely be getting a Sunday collection, as well parts of Bridgwater.
Hemington, Kilmersdon, Farrington Gurney, Faullkland, Batcome, Cloford, Marston Bigot, Nunney, Trudoxhill, Thytherington, Upton Noble, Wanstrow, Witham Firary, Chantry, Cranmore, Whately, Evercreech, Babington, Charlton, Coleford, Holcombe, Newbury, Stoke St. Micheal. Holcombe, Stratton on the Fosse, Babington, Buckland Dinham, Foxcote, Hardington, Mells, Norton St. Phillip, Vobster, Beckington, Farleigh Hungerford, Laverton, Lullington, Rode, Tellisford, Woolverton, Chilcompton, Binegar, Chewton Mendip, Clapton, Emborough, Green Ore, Ston Easton, Ashwick, Doulting, Oakhill, Downhead, and Leigh on Mendip.
Further areas may also be affected but this will not be known until Saturday afternoon.
Any residents expecting a recycling collection this Saturday that does not happen should leave their boxes and bags out for crews returning on Sunday.
Refuse and garden waste collections should not be affected.
Some collections will also have been disrupted by flooding this week. Crews will do their best to return for these when conditions allow and be as flexible as possible.
Somerset Council sincerely apologises to anyone who has been affected by recent delays to collections.
