The Prime Minister has confirmed a four-week delay to the lifting of all restrictions in England beyond 21 June.

That means restrictions will continue on the numbers of people meeting up indoors and inside pubs and restaurants.

In turn that means capacity limits for sporting events and cinemas will remain, and nightclubs will stay closed; although Boris Johnson announced some relief for those planning a wedding, saying that they CAN go ahead with more than 30 guests.

He later added that he was confident that there will be no further delay in completely re-opening the economy and lifting all size restrictions on concerts and events beyond July 19.

The news of the delay to the final lifting of all coronavirus restrictions was widely leaked, with many theatres and live music venues saying they feared that they would collapse if they could not fully open.

With the additional four weeks, it is hoped that two-thirds of the adult population will have been offered two doses of a coronavirus vaccine and all over 18s will have been offered at least one.

One other recommendation will continue, with employees being told that they should continue to work from home if possible.
