Former Frome Festival and Cheese & Grain lead Martin Dimery has been selected as the Green Party candidate for the next Frome election.

That could be as late as January 28 2025, but Martin, who stood in the by-election against the successful Liberal Democrat candidate Sarah Dyke, says he is ready whenever it is called.

He has been formally named as the candidate for a slightly different boundary in terms of election lines; the new Frome and East Somerset constituency, will include residents of Midsomer Norton and Radstock.

He told Nub News :

"I am delighted to have been selected by Green Party members to stand as the Parliamentary candidate for the new Frome and East Somerset constituency in the forthcoming General Election.

"The new constituency promises to be a much more representative area than Somerton and Frome, which was much too large geographically, incorporating communities with little common.

"Frome's ties with Midsomer Norton, Radstock and the surrounding countryside are far stronger. We share schools and colleges, health services, public transport, work and social connections. Politically, it will be an open race and with our strength in Frome, which is the largest town, the Green Party expects to do well."

Meanwhile Somerset Council is urging residents to be ready and listed able to vote by making sure they are on the roll. Details on how you can check whether you will be eligible to vote HERE
