Frome College has just announced that all pupils will be expected to wear face masks from when they go back on Monday - following a rise in coronavirus cases.
The College was forced at the very last minute to cancel, for the second time, the Year 11 already-postoned Prom, just one day before it was scheduled and now it has issued additional Public Health advice.
This means that from Monday 4th October:
- All students (except those who are exempt) will be required to wear face covering in lessons and communal areas
- All students and staff are asked to complete a Lateral Flow test every 3-5 days
- Break and lunch times will be in bubbles. Entry and exit times will be staggered.
- Ventilation will continue in classrooms therefore students are able to wear coats indoors
- PE changing rooms remain closed until October half term, when we will review the situation
- Cleaning around site remains enhanced
- Visits to college are limited and all visitors wear face coverings
- Tutor/parents events this term will be virtual
Frome College has seen a large rise in cases, and yesterday it was reported that ten teachers are off sick with coronavirus.
But it was the cancellation of the Prom, first delayed in July, that caused the biggest dismay.
On Frome Nub News pages one message sent to us warned that all the Frome schools are now on alert too, as cases rise.
As for the Prom they told Nub News: " Public Health England made us pull it at 3pm today. I could cry.... everybody was lined up - the event company to dress the venue, DJ, pizzas, mocktails - everything. "
