Today (Thursday May 12) there will be a memorial service, open to all, at St John's church in Frome to a much-loved and respected former shop keeper of the town.

Ronald Barrow passed away at Rossetti House on April 14  aged 92. and today he will be remembered at a service at 2pm.

Not that he has been forgotten - far from it - as even though the shop that bore his family name changed hands it is still affectionately known as Barrow's.

And as you see it was a big advertiser in the local paper, with some quite lovely prices back in the early 70s.

Many of the tributes paid to him included how kind he was and how he was a great boss to work for in the shop.

"Mr Barrow always a kind and cheery man" seemed to sum him up, but he was also a truly dedicated businessman and also a very kind boss, while also working as what was then called a Justice of the Peace - now called magistrates.

His family of children, grand children and great grandchildren have requested donations to the Parkinsons charity.
