Mendip will welcome 'A Little Night Market' to Frome's Market Yard Car Park on Friday 30th July, 5.30pm-10pm.
For the first time ever, The Frome Independent market will be presenting a night-time offer, showcasing around 40 Somerset traders with a mixture of food and drink stalls, plus gift and designer products. Visitors are invited to come and enjoy the atmosphere, meet the producers, and be tempted by the delicious cuisines from local street food traders. There will be something for everyone!
This exciting event was conceived of by The Frome Independent Market and is supported by Mendip District Council using monies from the European Regional Development Fund.
Cllr Simon Carswell, Portfolio Holder for Economic Development at Mendip District Council, said: "We are delighted this unique event will be coming to Frome.
"This is a new partnership for us at the Council and we believe the night market will provide a welcome, additional boost to our high street offer, attracting both local people and visitors to Frome."
Cllr Carswell added: "Although all government restrictions should be lifted by the time Frome hosts this event, it is an open-air market and will have measures in place to minimise the risk of COVID-19 transmission. Everyone can feel safe and confident while they shop."
Director of The Frome Independent, Tabitha Clayson said that her team were excited to be bringing a live event back to the town:
"Our team have been working hard to bring an event that champions local makers and offers an opportunity for the community to come together once again in the town centre, but if it's required, we can comply with Covid restrictions. While we're sad to have to delay the restart of our full-sized, town-wide markets, we're really excited by the opportunity to create a night market for Frome."
