Network Rail is about to start some more work in Frome.

From tomorrow (January 18) they are undertaking essential works to the Pilly Vale railway bridge. The works are scheduled to carry on until March 12 , with the footpath under the bridge being closed from February 1.

Meantime work on the Rodden Road rail bridge continues. That work, which has closed the through road, is currently still marked as being completed by the end of this month. The work began on November 2 last year with Network Rail admitting that the job was more than they had anticipated.

At the end of December a representative of Network Rail told Nub News: A Network Rail spokesperson said:

"During recent work to Rodden Road overbridge in Frome, our engineers uncovered areas of the bridge that require further reinforcement.

"In the interest of efficiency, Network Rail has agreed with Frome Parish Council to continue its work on the overbridge until 31 January 2021. This will mean the road will remain closed until the work has been completed with the same diversion route for vehicles as before and pedestrians will continue to have access under the bridge via a safe route through the worksite. "
