Fifty mile an hour winds, which are dangerously gusting, are expected this weekend, along with torrential rain.

The forecast for both Saturday and Sunday is for strong winds up to gale force, with heavy rain showers throughout both days, only easing in the early evening on Sunday.

Although Sunday will be the slightly better day, many events won't be cancelled until the last minute.

Frome Rugby Club say that currently all the games scheduled are due to go ahead, but they will make the call the evening before, or on the morning itself.

Likewise Frome Town Football Club who told Nub News: "We are unable to make a call until the morning of the game so at the moment it's on."

The Robins are due to play, Larkhall Athletic on Saturday.

The Met Office has put in yellow warnings for the whole area, with forecast that the high winds, more dangerous in high speed gusts, will cause travel disruption from ten o clock on Saturday morning until midnight on Sunday.

They warn to expect travel delays and to be ready for some damage to buildings such as tiles blown from roofs and possible power cuts.

Weather forecasters are expecting persistent rain heavy rain for a full 24 hours, from midday Saturday to midday Sunday with a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded.
