New Frome forest comes to town with first breather day - park not parking ?

The first Frome breather day started in Frome today (May 21) and the first indications were that it was generally welcomed.
There were a few idling cars and one cheeky motorists took advantage of the barriers on Bath Street to get in some free parking, but mostly the drivers respected the closure.
In what was dubbed an urban forest, there were trees lining the main through town road with traffic diverted around the town centre.

The aim is to help cut air pollution in the town centre and to encourage people to explore how these spaces could be used as a new public area. The Green Breather Days are a series of Saturdays between May and September where Frome's town centre is pedestrianised, encouraging people to explore the town centre by foot, boost support for local businesses and reduce Frome's air pollution.
