The local Lions Club has welcomed a new president, Greg Wood.

Working at the head office of Screwfix in Yeovil, it will be part of his new role to decide whether the Lions will this year go ahead with their hugely popular fundraiser, the Santa tour. At the moment Frome Nub News has been told it WILL go ahead, with a final decision made in October.

He has lived in Frome for 11 years and is married to Wendy Wood, a local glass artist.

Apart from Lions' interests he plays golf, enjoys live music events and has a dog, which they describe as " their mad dog Ziggy."

The couple have three grown up children and one grandchild, and has been lucky enough to have walked the Inca Trail in Peru and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro.

Lions have been supporting Frome and its surrounding villages for over 50 years. The Club was started informally in September 1966 and was officially Chartered in March 1967.
