Staff from Barratt Homes, which is currently building a range of two, three, four and five bedroom properties at its nearby Delamare Park development presented the vice chair at Nunney Village Hall with the donation from its Community Fund.  The £1,000 will go towards a new overhead projector which will be used during regular film nights at the Village Hall.

Vice chair, James Hollis, said: "We're able to generate some revenue from some users but we look to keep charges low enough that it remains accessible to all. That's why donations - such as this one from Barratt Homes - are so important to us. We're incredibly grateful."

Louise Ware, sales director at Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, added:"We understand how reliant community venues like Nunney Village Hall are for funding. As the country's largest housebuilder, we are committed to creating positive legacies in the areas where we build. It was a pleasure to make this donation which we know will make a huge difference to everyone that enjoys the Village Hall's facilities."

Every month, each David Wilson Homes division can donate £1,000 to a local concern that works to improve the quality of life for those living in their area.

Delamare Park is the first Barratt development in the country with no gas supply or connection on-site. All 82 properties are fitted with air source heat pumps as standard - a clean, highly efficient and emissions-free way of meeting a home's heating and hot water requirements.

Unlike traditional boilers which are the largest contributor to household carbon emissions[1], air source heat pumps require only water and electric connection. They absorb heat from the outside air and can operate when outside temperatures are as low as -20°C. They can reduce homeowners' carbon footprint by more than two tonnes per year, contributing up to 20 per cent less CO2 emissions than gas boilers and up to 70 per cent less than electric systems[2]. Over ten years, the emissions saving could be the equivalent of 30 return flights between London and Madrid[3].

Named after Sir John de la Mare, a knight in the court of King Edward III who built nearby Nunney Castle in the 14th century, Delamare Park includes a range of two, three, four and five-bedroom properties. The development includes electric car charging for every home, more than three acres of open space as well as measures to support local wildlife including the planting of 178 new trees, the creation of hedgehog highways and a five-metre ecological boundary, which will be preserved for nature.

Nunney is located just off the A361 in between Frome and Shepton Mallet, in the Somerset countryside. For more information visit https://www.barratthomes.co.uk/new-homes/dev-001040-delamare-park/
