One of the oldest pubs and hotels in Frome preparing to re-open?

The George in the heart of Frome is preparing to re-open.

Unconfirmed reports say that it will be back open to visitors from next Wednesday (September 2).

Back in July we reported the good news that the pub was planning on re-opening.

Brewery owner Wadworth, which is based in Devizes said it was just taking longer than with other pubs to build in social distancing measures.

It told Nub News at the time.

"The social distancing and new ways of working will currently impact some sites more like the George in Frome and therefore we have made the decision to keep those pubs temporarily closed. We will continue to review this situation. "

The George - officially known as The George Hotel & Granary - dates back to 1650, but was renovated in 1874 when the distinctive balcony was added.
