Planning News in and around Frome this week and Frome Town Council will be discussing the latest applications for the town at their meeting on Thursday.
Current planning applications include:
Under 2023/0605/FUL | The partial demolition/reduction in height of carpark walling, removal of steps and planter at The Court House on King Street in Frome. Under the application full details of the history, that we know, of the site are given, including that in around 1880 the wall formed the boundary with a timber yard at 16 Market Place. The 1880 maps also shows a roadway which historic conveyances confirm served 'pleasure gardens, 'stables' and 'the old dyehouse' beyond 16 Market Place. On 22nd July 1949, both the Iron Gates building and the Court House building were listed as Grade II buildings.
Councillors will also be discussing the new application for a paper billboard - not the controversial digital billboard which could be put up on station approach. As Nub News reported the company revised the plans following a big demonstration on the side of the road next to B&M Bargains. But there are still many objections to this plan brought by Wildstone Estates Limited [the applicant] which is effectively a landlord outdoor media infrastructure provider that owns and manages the land and equipment required for advertising. Their advertising assets are then rented to operators, who sell the advertising space to local and national companies for various advertising campaigns. Details under 2023/0516/ADV
