Planning applications in and around Frome this week include:

At 59 Catherine Street in Frome they want to separate an existing retail unit and ground floor flat to include part change of use of residential to retail. (with associated internal works only). The application is open for comment under Ref. No: 2020/2091/FUL .

Plans for a rear kitchen extension, first-floor side bedroom extension and alterations to the porch at 125 Leys Lane in Frome BA11 2JS are open for comment. Ref. No: 2020/2098/HSE.

And there is an application for a non-material amendment (2018/2015/VRC) which concerns the building work at 3 Frome Road in Rode. Developers want to make alterations to the car ports and garages. Ref. No: 2020/2116/NMA

Lots of tree applications this week:

The owner of 70 Keyford in Frome BA11 1JRA wans to cut by half several trees on the property due to overcrowding. The trees include a Willow and the Laylandii hedge. Ref. No: 2020/2113/TCA

An application has been put in to fell two trees, which are described as " Poor specimens " at 61 Nunney Road BA11 4LA Ref. No: 2020/2112/TCA .

They want to fell a conifer at 1 Egypt Cottages on Top Lane in Mells Frome BA11 3QN. Ref. No: 2020/2115/TCA

There is an application to cut back and prune four trees at Merchants Barton Car Park at Merchants Barton Frome BA11 1PT

Ref. No: 2020/2119/TPO.

They want to reduce the height of the Sycamore by three metres at

60 Oakfield Road in Frome BA11 4JH. Ref. No: 2020/2109/TPO

Owners of 2 North Parade in Frome wish to reduce the height of the Lawson Cypress by between two and three metres. Reference. No: 2020/2072/TCA

Planning decisions made by Mendip this week include:

Frome Selwood Tennis Club on Somerset Road will be getting a new pavilion after their planning application was approved with conditions.

Fighting Japanese knotweed at Builder's Yard Cheese Hill Marston Bigot Frome BA11 5DH is set to be a lengthy process. Planners have approved conditions concerned with landscaping at the postcode, and have revealed that it will be years before they have eradicated the weed. The report includes details from a company who specialise in treating the invasive species and who have reported that they have found seven strands of the weed and getting rid of it will take three separate herbicide attacks, the last in August 2022.

Planners have refused the prior approval required to change building use from Office Use (Class B1(a)) to a Dwellinghouse (Class C3) at 2A Market Place in Frome.

They have approved details on the surface and foul water drainage schemes on planning consent 2017/0600/FUL concerning Crossway Garage on Anchor Road in Coleford Frome BA3 5PG.

An application to build a single storey rear extension at 16 Farmhouse Drive in Frome BA11 2S, has been withdrawn.

In Buckland Dinham at Woodlands on Lower Street, planners have given the go-ahead to demolish a UPVC conservatory and build a single storey rear extension.

Approved with conditions: Plans to build a two storey side extension at

35 Chaffinch Avenue in Frome.

Approved: The owners of Standerwick Court in Standerwick can build a greenhouse and Oak pergola.

While the owners of 36 Innox Hill Frome have been given permission to remove and replace a c1960 fireplace in their home.
