In planning news in and around Frome this week:

An application has been put in to convert a garage, store and home office (now consented as an annexe) to a self-build, one-bedroom live-work dwelling with an office at Park View, Dymotts Cottage access road Lullington in Frome BA11 2PG. Planning reference : 2020/2083/FUL

In Nunney an application has been put into Mendip planners to repair and refurbish five windows on the front of 8 Horn Street . That is under

Ref. No: 2020/2067/HSE.

In case you missed it, there will be a delay of several months to any decision on the Easthill development in Frome. You can read about that by clicking HERE: the Frome Nub News site and a report from the Local Democracy Reporter

In planning decisions made by Mendip this week:

An application for prior approval for change of use of agricultural building to a dwellinghouse (use Class C3) at Priors Court Farm , Rudge Lane in Beckington has been refused. Planners decided : " The proposed change of use would require extensive building operations that go beyond what can be considered a conversion... Additionally the proposed "curtilage" is too extensive, it is not closely associated with the agricultural buildings and is far larger than the land area occupied by the buildings. The proposal is contrary to Class Q, Part 3 of Schedule 2 of the Town & Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 2015 (as amended) and therefore planning permission is required."

There is no objection to an application to reduce the height of the Magnolia at The Old Bakehouse on Market Place in Nunney.

The application for a certificate of lawful existing development for an address at 2A Palmer Street Frome BA11 1DS to be made into a home, has been granted.

An application to build a home and stables at land South of Hawkesmead Close in Norton St Philip ( Ref. No: 2020/2277/FUL ) has been withdrawn.

There is no objection from planners to an application to fell an ornamental Cherry Tree at 85 Oakfield Road in Frome.

Approved with conditions, an application to build 2.1m of boundary fence at 2 Hawkesmead Close, Norton St Philip.

And an appeal to build 32 new homes on land North of White Hayes Cottage on The Street in Chilcompton, has been dismissed. The appeal decision was made following a site visit from a representative of the Secretary of State to the village on 16 November. In one part of the statement made to deny the appeal he wrote: "The benefits would be significant, with up to 32 new dwellings added to the Council's housing stock. I also give considerable weight to the ten affordable units that would result. These matters would go towards achieving the framework's aim of significantly boosting the supply of homes. There would also be benefits in respect of the economic and social aspects of sustainability." However later in the appeal document he writes: " I conclude that the adverse effects identified significantly and demonstrably outweigh the benefits. The proposed development cannot therefore be deemed to be sustainable development and,

taking into account all other matters raised, the appeal should be dismissed. "
