Planning news in and around Frome this week:

Approval has been given to convert and extend redundant agricultural barns at Court Farm close to the Blatchbridge roundabout into three homes. The site, within the hamlet of West Woodlands, consists of a range of traditional single storey barns laid out in two blocks around a farmyard. In its planning decision, Mendip stated that the farm and surrounding buildings were originally in the ownership of one party but were separated when most recently sold.

In Laverton planners have approved an application to demolish an existing piggery and build a storage building at Peart House Old School. They have also approved the plans for the same location to convert an existing agricultural barn into an office.

In Frome itself, plans to widen access to Wine Street and erection of new gate at 4 South Parade have been approved.

Also in the town, an application for work on the listed building, Rook Lane Chapel, at Rook Lane House on Christchurch Street West. The application for approval of details reserved by condition 3 (part - rooflights) has been approved. The exterior cover material will be grey lacquered aluminium so that they match with the building opposite.

Approved, plans to build a single storey extension to an existing kitchen and to raise the height of the roof at 15 Avenue Road in Frome.

The application for approval of details reserved by conditions 3 (schedule of samples/materials), on planning consent 2020/1514/FUL which is for the demolition of an existing garage and the building of a two storey dwelling with associated parking at 81A Keyford in Frome, have been approved.

Planners have no objection to an application for a variety of tree works including felling a Chestnut tree at Langham House, 11 Rode Hill in Rode near Frome.

Also no objection to reducing three Cypress trees and cutting back a laurel hedge at 97 Nunney Road in Frome.

Approved with conditions, an application to cut back a Cooper Beech hedge at 1 Portway Steps on Vicarage Street in Frome.

Planners have ruled that an application for the construction of swimming pool at Peart Farm in Laverton is lawful.

They have also approved an application for the construction of farm track and alteration to existing access (part retrospective). on land at Rudge Lane in Standerwick.

Under Ref. No: 2021/0944/HSE homeowners have applied to build an outbuilding and alter an existing garage with a new car port at the Great West Barn, Bindon Lane in Witham Friary.
