Planning in and around Frome this week.

Planning applications include:

At land North of Wallbridge Gardens in Frome an application is in to build a house on land left over from the Wallbridge Gardens development, built in the 1980's. The plans are for a two-storey, low energy, four bedroom house accessed from the lane leading to the garaging at the rear of both Wallbridge Gardens and Garston Road. Details under Ref. No: 2022/1723/FUL . In the application, it is said that the site at present consists of rubble and concrete with little to no flora and fauna. The application is being made by DJ Kelley Homes Ltd.

Number 6 Keyford Terrace in Frome has put in a planning application to build a rear ground and first floor extension, internal alterations and replacement windows/doors. Details under Ref. No: 2022/1838/LBC

2 Long Ground Frome has put in an application for a detached single storey annex. Ref. No: 2022/1836/HSE

19 Somerset Road has put in a planning application to build a single storey rear extension. Ref. No: 2022/1750/HSE

An application is in for a side and rear extension at 11 Tinkers Lane in Newbury. Ref. No: 2022/1825/HS

Tree works including felling an Sycamore at 7 The Retreat in Frome, details under Ref. No: 2022/1847/TCA

An application to fell a Birch Tree at 1 Hughes Court High Street Rode. Ref. No: 2022/1846/TCA

Planning applications are in for Berkley Roundabout, Warminster Road Roundabout and Nunney Catch Roundabout , all for advertisement/sponsorship hoarding signs, which, it is proposed will allow one local business to advertise. Above a message reading "Somerset County Council supporting local businesses". Advertising on a roundabout is taken up on a minimum one-year contract and the message will remain constant during this time. All designs will be approved by Somerset County Council prior to going into production. Details - including a discussion about how they will be branded as the county moves to the new unitary body under 2022/1691/ADV

Planning decisions include:

Resurfacing of the rear court yard at the Church Of St Mary on Innox Hill in Frome can go ahead after planners approved the details.

A change of use application from 9 Beechwood Close in Frome to fully residential, has been approved.

Over in Rudge an application to remove a hedgerow to put in a new water pipe on Rudge Lane has been withdrawn.

Construction of a horse lunge area at Sleight Farm on Lullington Lane has been approved.

While opponents fighting housing plans in Frome might be interested to learn that a controversial planning application to build more than 20 homes on the edge of Shepton Mallet has been refused.

The application by Pegasus Homes to build 22 homes at the western end of Westhay Lane, at the southern edge of the town received opposition from local residents who said it would be a "criminal" loss of green space and wildlife if it was given the go-ahead.
