Hundreds of fans enjoyed a terrific game of football as the season kicked off at the Robins Nest in front of a record-breaking crowd.

Official attendance was 876, meaning Frome Town FC broke their modern day highest attendance record.

It was thanks to the offer of free tickets, the chance to win a car in the prize draw - but most of all to see some great football back on the hill.

The first half saw the home side get back into their stride, settling in, to take some shots on goal, which never reached the mark. For their part Highworth Town were excellent in defence, but The Robins kept up the pressure and they never seemed on the back foot.

But they went into half time at nil nil.

Then just minutes into the second half the dazzling JD scored the all important goal.

Play between Rex Mannings and Kane Simpson saw the ball fall to Jon Davies on the edge of the box and he poked the ball home with the outside of his foot.

Great result, great attendance and they take three points from the opener.

The Robins will be hoping for more of the same at their next games, playing away at Plymouth Parkway for a league fixture on Tuesday night before they take on Paulton Rovers in the FA Cup at Badgers Hill next Saturday. (August 21).
