Whether it was by helping someone with their shopping or standing on the doorstep clapping for key workers, many of us saw more of our neighbours in 2020 and formed new connections. Strong neighbourhoods can come together to make their streets a nicer place – and it's great to know that help is only ever a few doors away.
But what do you do when tensions are brewing on your street? A small neighbourly dispute can have a big impact on the community, but fortunately there are positive and practical ways to approach this.
The Neighbourhood Network Group and Frome Town Council are hosting some training led by experts in "restorative conversations". The training is free and open to anyone interested in helping their neighbourhood flourish, to gain confidence approaching difficult issues and facilitating calm, productive conversations.
Cllr Anne Hills is attending the training and said: "Did Christmas bring out some seasonal stresses on your street? Whether it's disputes with neighbours, or even friends or colleagues, sometimes we find that we're not all getting along as well as we'd like, and for a variety of reasons! This training will allow us to approach difficult conversations in a calm manner to get a resolution for all."
The training will take place online on Monday 18th January, there's daytime session from 10am-12pm or an evening session from 7-9pm, so you can choose the time to suit you. Spaces are limited and booking up quickly so please register to secure your place. You can sign up here: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/frometowncouncil/463616/
