Somerset Highways has sent out an advisory - not surprising given the temperature in town - that the gritters will stay in their bays tonight (March 12).

The temperatures are wild - they say road temps locally are forecast to be a " whopping +7.3 degrees" tonight . So unsurprisingly no gritting planned.

The unpredictable weather, which saw the local schools closed earlier this week and now Frome Town Centre basking in sunshine and then facing heavy rain showers, is causing some headaches for gardeners and drivers alike.

It has been 12 degrees in Frome today - and it is forecast to be the same on Monday - but on Tuesday another cold snap, with overnight temperatures down to minus 2.
