Local fundraiser and Frome Times Person of the Year 2019 Rachel Clark is once again calling on the community to join her and Team Clark in breaking a world record on Sunday 7th June and raising funds for cancer counselling charity We Hear You (WHY).

The 2020 world record attempt is a repeat of last June's challenge - 593 people took part in a continuous eight-hour game of skittles outside Frome Library and Team Clark are satisfied that the attempt was successful. Sadly, a technical error meant that the team didn't have vital video evidence to claim the official record from Guinness.

Undeterred, and following Rachel's year-long '365 for WHY' running challenge, which raised more than £20,000 for WHY, Team Clark are back to attempt the record again. Rachel said: "The existing world record stands at 468 skittles players. Last year, although we couldn't claim the record, a phenomenal 593 players took part in Frome. I know we can smash that total and I want to celebrate smashing the record with all of you this June.

"The rules are the same as last year – players can only participate once and throw three skittles balls each. You have to hit at least one pin to be counted, but you don't have to be a seasoned skittles player - the record is for the number of players, not the score. Please register to participate online – you can click through to the form at www.wehearyou.org.uk and we'll post the link regularly on social media. Any questions, email me at [email protected]."

"If you don't want to play skittles but would like to help in another way, we also need sticker uppers, stewards and witnesses on the day, so get in touch with [email protected]. Thanks so much for supporting Team Clark and WHY again, look forward to seeing you in June!"

The 2020 skittles world record runs from 9am to 5pm on Sunday 7th June alongside the Frome Independent. To sign up please register online at https://buff.ly/2TnTGFq. Follow the event Facebook page 'Frome 2020 world record skittles challenge' for regular updates and useful information.
