The hugely admired local Frome charity Open Storytellers, based out of RISE in the heart of Frome has put out an emotional appeal asking why the person who stole from them would do such a thing.

Open Storytellers supports people with learning disabilities to find their voice and use it through dramas and storytelling and has been working in Frome since 2004, and became a community arts charity in 2009.

They have put out an appeal for the return of the bag but also appealed to the person responsible for the theft, to consider how awful it had been for those being helped by the charity. The bag was taken as they were working on May 23 and it was clear that they had been watching for a while.

Open Storytellers appealed for whoever was responsible to make good and make up for what they did. They posted:

Some questions for the person who stole from us yesterday:

How long had you been watching us?

Long enough to work out exactly when and how you could dash into the office, steal a member of the team's bag, and dash out again.

Long enough to see we are a charity.

Long enough to see the glorious bunch of people with a learning disability coming and going.

Was it worth it?

Worth the knowledge that you stole from a small, local charity?

Worth leaving shock and anxiety behind you?

Worth it for what you got?

Thank you for showing yourself so clearly to our CCTV.

Thank you for making us review all our security so nothing like this can happen again.

Thank you for reminding us that we are stronger than you, and we will not let you frighten us. Because we are community. And that's where the real riches are.

And if you want to make it up to us, here's our Local Giving link - https://localgiving.org/charity/openstorytellersfrome/
