The Frome RFC 3rd XV were back in league action this weekend with an away trip to Martock RFC 1st XV.
Frome started the game brightly putting the home defence under pressure with strong carries from the pack making good ground.
It was Frome that got the first points of the game with a well worked move where stand in Fly Half Toby Reilly broke blind and placed a lovely low kick through for Cory Plumridge making his senior debut to race through beating the Martock Fullback to the ball to score his first senior try, the conversation was missed.
Frome lead 5-0 till moments before half time when the home side leveled the score 5-5.
The second half was hard work against the wind, the home side piled on the pressure and took the lead 10-5.
Frome rallied from the restart but a turn over ball saw Martock score another try 17-5.
Frome made changes at this point and defended with big tackles from Dave Evans stopping the home sides attack on two occasions sadly for Frome, Martock scored the final points of the game making the final score 22-5.
Final Score: Martock RFC 22 - 5 Frome RFC III
The man of the match award, sponsored by The Old Bath Arms, Frome went to Gareth Simmonds who never missed a tackle all game and stepped into a new position of Hooker for the game. Everyone gave everything they had and should be proud of themselves.
